Hoi is Head of the Process Systems Engineering group. Engage in a range of research projects funded by public and industry. He set up the Flow Laboratory which houses a range of large scale facility including the Three Phase Flow Facility, 4" and 10" flowline risers, a 4" inclinable flow loops. Current research projects include multiphase flows in large diameter risers (EPSRC), sand transportation in multiphase flowlines (Oil Company), slug controls (DTI and a consortium of companies), development of gamma base multiphase meter (EPSRC, equipment manufacturer) and wet gas metering (meter manufacturer). Much of the above work are for efficient recovery of hydrocarbons. A recent project funded by EPSRC is on enhanced hydrogen production using process intensification techniques.
